Liz McMahon
Position: Post-Bar Law Clerk
Liz McMahon joined Walker, Hamilton & Kearns as a post-bar law clerk after graduating from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings) in May 2026. Prior to law school, Liz graduated summa cum laude from the University of Baltimore, earning a bachelor’s degree in English with a focus on professional writing.
In law school, Liz worked as a teaching fellow for Professor Thalia González’s Constitutional Law I class, represented her classmates in UCLAS (the elected student government of UC Law SF), served on the student advisory board for the UC Law Center for Advocacy, Resources and Education (an organization focused on preventing sexual harassment and violence in academic environments and providing resources for those affected), and volunteered with the SF LGBT Center’s Name and Gender Marker Change Clinic. She has been an active member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (SFTLA) since her second year of law school.
Liz began working in restaurants at 14. While earning her B.A., she worked full time at the restaurant she would go on to manage following graduation. She continued her career in hospitality while freelancing as a journalist for local magazines around Baltimore. Liz believes that hospitality and good writing are fundamental to client-centered advocacy. People who have been injured deserve the opportunity to be heard, understood, and treated with dignity—regardless of wealth or status. Armed with these understandings, Liz is honored to continue her legal training under the zealous advocates who have made WHK Law the institution it is today.
In her free time, Liz enjoys listening to music and going to shows, restoring furniture that has been kicked to the curb, and hanging out with her loyal and dedicated tuxedo cat, Elliot.
